Upper Barn Cottage

Wildlife Pond and Flying Owl

Before moving to Wales we lived in Derbyshire where we met each other and eventually hatched the plan for an adventure elsewhere. Before that one of us lived in Germany for over 10 years and still speaks the language; the other one is learning Welsh. And so we came here in 2010 after falling in love with the area, the house and cottage. All our visitors easily understand why .......and we in turn enjoy welcoming all our visitors to such a lovely place, and making their holiday enjoyable, memorable and as successful as possible.

We arrived with the usual clutter, but also our rescue animals, our dogs and OWLS. Since then, we have acquired ducks and hens, so, apart from the entertainment, there are plenty of free range eggs in spring and summer.

Our lovely garden, which visitors can enjoy, is continually being nurtured and improved, happily by Barry, who is a landscape gardener. One of his current projects is to plant a few thousand daffodil bulbs each year; the current total is over 6000. It is a wonderful place and once a year, usually in June, we open the garden for the National Gardens Scheme and the charities they support.

We are looking to add new features and improvements, such as our reading room, to the cottage and garden all the time - there's always something new for our guests who return.

Hope to see you at Upper Barn Cottage,

Carole and Barry
